of Seattle has supplied commercial & military rigging and towing
hardware since WW2. With a fully staffed engineering and manufacturing
facility, their unique design capabilities include deck hardware for
oceanographic research, towing, and offshore oil field applications.
SBM designs go on to include quality hardware for mooring, anchoring
and underway replenishment systems.
Smith Berger engineers provide cost effective solutions
for the challenging demands of a dynamic marine environment. Some recent
projects include retractable towing pins for tug and barge operators,
unique stern roller staple, "smart" guide sheaves, flag blocks
and miscellaneous components, which often-incorporate sophisticated
load monitoring electronics. One major project involved an ABS certified
12 point mooring system that included fixed and swiveling fairleads,
underwater fairleads, chain stoppers and various messenger wire fleeting
sheaves. The entire system was furnished with a load monitoring system.
